Balloon Lites

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do Balloon Lites last?

Fully charged batteries will produce a very bright light for the first 3-4 hours and then slowly fade over time. The lights will last up to 48 hours in blinking mode, and in constant-on mode they can run 12 to 24 hours and remain bright enough to use.

You can turn them off after the party to preserve battery life.

The solid state LED's have a 100,000 hour life expectancy. You should be able to enjoy lighted balloons for many years.

Additional L1131 button cell batteries may be purchased on our Support page.

Can Balloon Lites be used with helium?

Balloon Lites are designed to float in helium filled balloons. The LED modules weigh less than 10 grams with the batteries, so balloons will rise with helium. We recommend a minimum 12" balloon for the best results.

What type of balloons do they work with?

Balloon Lites work in any latex balloon, but the more translucent the balloon the better the effect. You can even use them in balloons with unique shapes like hearts or animals.

Are they safe for children?

LED lights do not generate any heat so they will not burn children or melt the balloons.

However, children under the age of (8) eight can choke or suffocate on uninflated or broken balloons. Adult supervision is required.

The easy fill valve contains small parts and batteries, discard broken balloons and valves at once. If swallowed seek medical attention immediately.

Only use inert gasses like air or helium in balloons.

How fast do the balloons blink and how bright are they?

Balloon Lites blink at about 1-3 flashes per second.

For best results, use in a low light situation like you would see at a bar, reception, or prom. Use a slightly opaque balloon, similar in color to the LED light. Then align the top of the light with the bottom edge of the balloon for maximum effect.

Bright white and blue tend to be the brightest in most balloons.

How big are they?

Balloon Lites need to be small, light weight and inexpensive. The casing is constructed of light weight plastic about 2 1/4" long x 3/4" in diameter and they weigh less than 10 grams including batteries.

Will helium balloons float?

Yes, 12" helium balloons can lift about 15 grams. Total weight includes the uninflated balloon, balloon lights, and any items used for sealing the balloon. If total weight is less than lift, then the balloon will float.

Are Balloon Lites compatible with Hi-Float?

Yes, they are compatible with and can be used with Hi-Float.

Do they work in water?

Sparkling balloons floating around a swimming pool makes a spectacular background at pool parties. Balloon lights also looks great in hot tubs, fish ponds, fountains and lakes!

Not all models are sealed against water. However, LED lights do not generate heat so they will continue to work in water With or without the balloon.
